Just a few days ago, Apple launched the all-new MacBook Pro 13. It is undoubtedly an impressive machine, but there are a number of competing devices that can compete in both performance and performance. price.
MSI Modern 14 Laptop – $ 1,461.79 at XoticPC (pre-order)
(around £ 1,200 / AU $ 2,250)
The Modern 14 is not far from the new MacBook Pro 13 – and it is certainly much nicer with the purse strings. It is only available for pre-order at the moment, but with a dedicated graphics card, a 2TB SSD and Windows 10 Pro, this MSI machine may well be worth considering.
Well, at least to a certain extent, because Apple hardware is often personalized and made to measure. For example, it seems that the Intel 1068NG7 processor in the MacBook Pro is an Apple exclusive. It is built on a more recent 10nm manufacturing process, at the highest base frequency of all Intel laptop processors and an Iris Plus graphics processor that can push 4K content to 120Hz.
If you're not ready to shell out for the Apple device, however, you might be happy to meet the MSI Modern 14. MSI is not a household name, but has been around for over 20 years and is well known for its motherboards and gaming laptops. The Modern 14, however, is a professional laptop and is currently available for pre-order.

At $ 1,461.79 (around £ 1,200 / AU $ 2,250), it's less than half the price of the Apple device (which has a suggested retail price of $ 2,999) and has a comparable configuration.
The processor is a slower Intel Core i7-10510U, but you get a dedicated graphics card: the Nvidia Geforce MX330 with 2 GB of GDDR5. The machine also has an XPC M.2 NVMe 2 TB SSD and Windows 10 Pro, to highlight its professional credentials.

Now how do the two compare? The MacBook Pro is heavier, has a higher resolution and a smaller screen (which means better pixel density). Its memory is also almost 50% faster and it has a much larger battery (58Whr vs 50Whr).
The MSI Modern 14 doesn't quite compete with Apple's new device, but it's not far away and could be a great choice for anyone after a high-performance business laptop.
