With such a high demand, it becomes more and more difficult to buy home training equipment at a realistic price. That said, it is not impossible, we just have to be a little more informed with our choice of purchase and buy a product that offers a variation of use.
My essential for resistance training would be a resistance band and a pair of dumbbells. Both equipments are incredibly versatile and you will be sure to get an effective full body workout. They even work perfectly in pairs. As always, there are a few options to consider, so here are some tips to make your purchase easier.
Resistance bands: which one?
It can be a field of mind to decide which group is best to buy. Loot bands, full body bands, bands with handles, the list goes on.
The purpose of the “booty” bands is in the name, these smaller bands are used to work the lower body and add resistance to your glute and leg exercises.
The whole body bands are usually thinner and longer to allow you to work your upper body strength as well as some lower body exercises.
Both are inexpensive and are widely available online (delivery time may be your biggest obstacle), so building a collection would be helpful.
Dumbbells: how to beat the high price
This much sought after equipment can be difficult to find since the lockout started. What was an affordable addition to your home workout kit has seen an increase in sales and now the price too. It's no surprise that since they don't just sit well in the corner of the room, you can also use them with almost any exercise.
Prices vary depending on the weight of the kit, and the average weight of 5 to 10 kg is often not available. So what can you do?
Consider buying a lighter weight and an integral resistance band (with or without handles). Using the two together provides additional strength, making these 2 kg weights much heavier. You can also use methods such as increasing repetitions, sets, tempo, and reducing your rest time to further increase engraving.
