1. Apple Watch charger
The unrivaled charging cable from Apple
Cheap
Delivered in the box
Don't hold the watch
Easy to slide to watch
The control option, the standard on which all other chargers in this range are based, is the Apple Watch magnetic charging cable that comes in the box. It's a little more than that – a pad to which the watch clings and a three-foot cable ending in a USB-A port.
The cable is functional and inexpensive, but it does not allow the watch to become a clock visible at night – in addition, it tends to separate from Apple watches with a slight jostling. But in a pinch or if you don't have much room, it might be the right choice – at least until you see what we have in store.
Note that the cable also comes in a USB-C option, as well as lengths of 0.3 m, 1 m and 2 m.
2. OLEBR 3 in 1 charging stand
A charger for all your Apple devices
Colors: Black, Rose gold, Space gray, Silver | Equipment: Aluminum and plastic
Also supports iPhone and AirPods
A selection of colors
Larger than some load carriers
A bit simple
If you have an Apple Watch, you certainly also have an iPhone and you have a good chance AirPods too, and if you have all of them, then you should definitely consider the OLEBR 3-in-1 charging stand, as it can charge all three devices at once.
It keeps your Apple Watch at an angle that allows you to see the screen, so you can use it in Nightstand mode, and it supports all sizes of Apple Watch, so if you have a 38mm, 40 mm, 42 mm or 44 mm, you are covered.
The OLEBR 3-in-1 charging stand also has a reasonably stylish design, in a choice of colors black, rose gold, space gray or silver, so you should be able to get one that matches your iDevices.
3. AICase bamboo wooden load support
A fusion of technology and nature
Colors: Bamboo | Equipment: Wood
Real wood
Elegant and robust design
Watch screen is not easily visible
Comes only in bamboo
We're still big fans of wood here at VPNOnlineFree, and the charging stands are a great place to use it, as the AICase bamboo wooden charging stand shows. This docking station accommodates both your Apple Watch and your iPhone, and it looks great.
This is mainly due to the aforementioned wood – bamboo in this case. In addition to offering a superb appearance, the use of wood also makes this charger robust, so it will not slip on your desk with the slightest boost.
It's also fairly compact, at least for a docking station that charges multiple devices. The horizontal angle on which it positions your watch screen may not be ideal, but since you can dock your iPhone at an easily visible angle, it doesn't matter.
4. Apple Mercase watch holder
Colors: Cosmic Gray, Rose Gold | Equipment: Aluminum and TPU
Low price
Compact design
Does not work in most cases
May fall off when used with heavy tapes
Mercase Apple Watch support is a cheap option, but you get a lot for your money. On the one hand, it is partially coated with aluminum, which gives it a more premium finish than even some more expensive docks.
It also has a compact design, so it won't take up your entire bedside table, and it can charge both your iPhone and your Apple Watch.
There are reports that it rocks when charging a watch with a heavy strap, so this is something to be aware of, although if you charge your iPhone at the same time, it should help weigh down the stand down. And if you have a light watch strap, there is nothing to worry about.
5. Fuse Chicken Coil Watch
As flexible as it is affordable
Colors: Silver / White | Equipment: Metal
Cheap
Flexible
One color
Lack of cable routing
Most docks are rigid and inflexible, but not the Fuse Chicken Single Reel watch. The cable-shaped device can be twisted into all kinds of shapes, which means you can get the perfect angle for your desk or bedside table every time (to activate Nightstand mode, for example).
We managed to wrap this thing in just about anything – wrap it around a lamp, an iPhone holder and even a bed pole for screen interaction in front. Of course, flexibility is the key to its adaptability, but the support stands on its own and does not sag under the weight of the heaviest metal bracelets.
The only drawback is the lack of cable routing beyond a small plastic clip hidden behind the loading disc carrier – ideally, you would be able to route it inside the carrier – but to be fair , you can wind the cable around the neck quite easily instead. The Coil also comes with stabilization clips for mounting in your car.
6. TwelveSouth HiRise for Apple Watch
A premium finish without a price tag
Colors: Black, white | Equipment: Brushed aluminum
High-end design
Solid
Only two color choices
Could be more compact
TwelveSouth took the same brushed aluminum from its HiRise iPhone holder and machined it into a wide base holder that provides great stability if you like to interact with your watch when it's not on your wrist.
The loading disc fits perfectly into a silicone recess in the tilting support and the cable descends into a rear channel and under the leather-lined platform of the base, which lifts up for easy routing and storage.
The silicone padding on the cutouts protects against any incident when placing and removing your watch, making it a solid, but surprisingly light support, all around.
7. Griffin WatchStand
A watch and an iPhone all in one
Colors: Black, white | Equipment: Plastic
Space for your iPhone
Affordable
Plastic construction
Plain
Your Apple Watch is a wonderful thing to see, so it's no surprise that Griffin has designed this totem holder to help you show it off when it's not on your wrist.
At the top of the plastic stand is an angled cradle for the charging connector on your watch and a hole for the cable to wrap around the removable rubber inner core and slide to the back of the base. The watch rests securely on top with the strap either buckled in the back, or open and suspended on the front (hint: not the best look).
The weighted, non-slip base provides a secure seat on the screen and has a reflective lip at the front to press your iPhone lengthwise; there is no outlet for this, but this is where Griffin's WatchStand electric charging station (£ 41 / $ 60 / AU $ 84) comes in – it also supports the needs for energy from your iPhone.
8. Just Mobile TimeStand
A clever option with a feeling of weight
Colors: Black, Silver | Equipment: Aluminum
Elegant
Reasonable price
The angle is not ideal for use on a bedside table
Cable channel is a bit ugly
If you're not passionate about pairing your all-metal watch with a plastic stand, take a look at this nifty option from Just Mobile. Machined from a single block of aluminum, the cylindrical bar is pleasant and heavy in the hand but remains soft for the surfaces of the bedside cabinet thanks to its protective rubber base.
The Apple Watch charger fits into a bent recess at the top, which has a channel that extends down the side and down to the base to route the cable cleanly. And this sculpted cylindrical hole isn't just for appearance – your watch's buckle strap slips in here when you mount it on the stand (at least in portrait orientation). The price also seems correct.
9. Mophie Watch Dock
A simple but elegant way to show off your watch
Colors: Metallic silver | Equipment: Aluminum
Protects surfaces
Easy to use
Expensive
One color
This aluminum support simplifies things as soon as the box is opened. The included quick start guide explains how to place the inductive charger for your watch in the circular cutout and route the cable through a rubber channel inside the vertical arm, through the base and back.
The faux leather padding on the inclined cradle provides a secure pad between the metal and the back of your watch, while a rubber pad on the base protects your desk / table. At four ounces, it's fairly light, but provides stable, medium-sized support for both watch sizes. Some may find the price a little high, however.
10. Native Union Dock
Display your watch your way
Colors: Slate / Space Gray, Midnight Blue / Gold, Stone / Rose Gold | Equipment: Silicone graphite, plastic and aluminum
Versatile
Several color choices
Heavy
Expensive
Native Union's minimalist dock consists of two parts: a heavy block base made of rubbery matte graphite silicone and a plastic / aluminum cylinder. The Apple Watch's charging disc snaps into a cradle molded on the cylinder, which has an elliptical groove inside where the cable passes and leaves the bottom of a discreet well.
Once the magazine is in place, the cylinder slides magnetically into the reversible base, where it can rotate freely. Your watch snaps securely, buckled or not, while the base can be reversed and placed horizontally or vertically, depending on how you want to display and interact with the watch display. The night table mode also works well.
The color of Apple's midnight blue bracelet really looks like this design. The dock also works with both watch sizes. The price is a bit high for something so simple, but at 450 g the weight of the dock seems to be money well spent – unless you're packing it for the trip, of course …
11. TwelveSouth Forté
An elegant platform that looks at the room on any surface
Colors: Silver / Black | Equipment: Chrome and leather
Elegant
Suitable for all surfaces
Cheap
One color option
The second TwelveSouth stand to appear in our overview, the Forté is even better in the style department and looks really good from all angles, on all surfaces. The combination of chrome and leather helps, but it's actually the open design of the curved stand that places your watch strap in the center.
The clasp goes over or across the curve, this is where your charging cable goes (it has an open back lined with rubber). The chrome holder has a metal ring that comes off, revealing the rubber case for your loading disc.
The 45-degree angle of the frame activates the Nightstand mode in lateral orientation and provides sufficient support to interact with the screen. And the leather lining on the base provides a soft rest for open clasps, when you can't get over the buckle.
12. Magnetic charging station for Apple Watch
Colors: White | Equipment: Polyurethane
Stylish design
Can charge Watch flat or sideways
Expensive
Only comes in white
If you want an elegant charging solution for your Apple Watch, who can be better than Apple itself? This official dock is just as simple and elegant as what you would expect from a design-minded company for Apple, and it is the perfect companion to the Apple Watch.
The design allows you to charge the watch flat or on its side – the latter puts it in Nightstand mode, so you can use it as an alarm clock.
The only real downside to this dock is that – in typical Apple fashion – it's expensive, but if you're invested in the Apple ecosystem, it's something you're probably used to.
13. Belkin PowerHouse
An expensive option that works with cases
Colors: White, Black | Equipment: To confirm
Works even if your phone is in a case
Solid
Nightstand mode will not work with
A big catch could block other takes
The Belkin Powerhouse is not cheap, but it is well thought out, allowing you to charge both your Apple Watch and your iPhone, the latter working even if the phone is in a case thanks to an adjustable Lightning connector which can be moved forward, backward, up and down.
The PowerHouse is also robust, but it shouldn't take up too much space and is designed to quickly charge the watch and phone.
Unfortunately, the position in which it holds your Apple Watch means that the Nightstand mode will not work when you use this docking station, but if you can live without it – and live with the price – it's a great option two in one that won't force you to take your phone out of its case.
